Storm Damage at Carlett Park

Fallen TreeThe violent storms of Thursday 18th January took their toll at Wirral Metropolitan College’s Carlett Park Campus.

Several mature trees fell during the raging storm, one crashing down on the roof of a student’s car, luckily the driver and passenger escaped without injury.

There was also some structural damage to the outbuildings, the roof of the canoe store blew off – fortunately no one was hurt. Carlett Park Campus was closed at 4:00pm to prevent students from undertaking the dangerous journey into college.

A very large mature tree fell across Torr Dive, blocking the main driveway to Chapel Walk, residents were able to use Ferry Road to enter and leave the estate. Facilities officers at Carlett Park quickly took control of the situation and the tree was removed late in the afternoon.

There was a very quick response from the college to ensure the safety of residents and students.
