Prepare Yourself… for a career in the Army

Army Preparation course

army prepA 13 week course starting 14 January ‘08 which prepares candidates for a career in the Army

During the course the learners:

  • Identify their chosen career within the Army
  • Bring fitness levels up to Army recruitment physical fitness selection test standard
  • Develop problem-solving skills and team building activities
  • Explore aspects of self-discipline within the Army
  • Learn how to carry out basic map reading and navigation

EDEXCEL BTEC CERTIFICATE LEVEL 2 INTERMEDIATE AIR CABIN CREW PREPARATION

cabin crewThis 18 week part-time course is designed for those who wish to pursue career in the Travel and Tourism industry. It will help you succeed in areers such as cabin crew, sea crew or airport ground staff

There are four units of study:

  • Airline Operations
  • Air Cabin Crew Work Environment
  • People Skills and Sales
  • Health, Safety and Securit

All students will also complete a First Aid at Work Certificate.

Activity Fortnight

RaftingStudents from all areas of the college have just enjoyed a very busy and challenging series of activities as part of their enrichment programme.

The events, organised by Enrichment Co-ordinator Jill Collins in association with the Students’ Union and the college’s Outdoor Education team, included kayaking and raft building at West Kirby Marine Lake, 5-a-Side football at Birkenhead Boys Club and the formidable High Ropes challenge at Carlett Park.

Annual Construction Awards 2006/07

The Annual Construction AwardsThe Annual Construction Awards were held on 15th November at our Conway Park Campus

This year 24 awards were made for Highest Standard Achieved, Best Personal Achievement, Project Work and Sponsored Awards.

A special award was made to Chris Boynton from Wirral Partnership Homes for Special Services to the Construction Department of Wirral Metropolitan College.

The Awards Ceremony was opened by Colin Campbell, Programme Team Manager for Construction, who welcomed guests. Pauline Brown, former Chair of Governors, Wirral Metropolitan College gave an address and made the presentations. Mike Potter CBE brought the evening to a close with a vote of thanks to all participating.
