No your eyes are not deceiving you. It’s that man again – or is it? Dr Joe Delaney, NHS Specialist in Integrative Health Practice and Programme Leader in Complementary Therapies at Wirral Met College is coming out and preparing for the London Marathon in style. He says he’s more in touch with his feminine side these days which is all part of what he describes as whole-person approach to good health and wellbeing.
Joe will be running this year’s marathon in support of the Clatterbridge Cancer Support charity. He hopes by the time of the race to have lost a few more pounds from around his waist to help him pirouette more comfortably and gracefully.
Joe, who is an expert in lifestyle and behaviour change, believes that if it’s not fun then it’s not worth doing but has he gone too far this time? The further the better on Sunday 13th April!
Joe will be running in aid of this year’s chosen College charity, Clatterbridge Cancer Care. If you feel you want to support Joe then please contact

6th March 2008.
Earlier today, representatives of the College’s Trades Unions were updated on progress made in the development of the College’s Accommodation Strategy. As part of this, we learned of the Board’s decision to explore a two site option in the North Wirral area and develop a business case for maintaining a presence in the South Wirral Area.
This is no great surprise because it has been clear for some time that the most significant proportion of our students live in the North Wirral area and those from other parts of the Wirral are well served with public transport routes to that area. We are also aware of the educational needs and potential opportunities for those who live in the more deprived parts of Wirral.
This could well mean a move away from Carlett Park, although a presence in South Wirral is being looked at. We do, however, recognise that there are real, new possibilities for expanding the College, in new facilities. This would improve the skills and employment prospects for many more people, particularly young adults.
We understand that the Government has made a very significant amount of money available to help FE Colleges improve their buildings. To get a share of this for Wirral, the College would have to show it meets the needs of the whole Wirral community. Many staff have believed for some time that the option now selected by the Board has the best chance of supporting this.
