Murder in the Woods – Tuesday 24th June 11am -3pm – come to see how forensic investigations are carried out.
Carlett Park Campus will open its new Forensic Centre on Tuesday 24th June
at 12 noon.
The University of Central Lancashire today approved Wirral Metropolitan College to offer a Forensic Science Foundation Degree to start September 2008. This is excellent news for the Wirral as it provides a degree route through to BSc honours that will equip tomorrow’s scientists and so help meet the industrial needs for analytical scientists in the North West.
There is an opportunity for either full-time or part- time study.
The area of Forensic Science is an ever growing and maturing sector in science and enables students to gain scientific knowledge and transferable skills within a forensic context.
This course is based at our Carlett Park Campus using our advanced analytical laboratories which are equipped to a higher education standard. In addition to a new forensic laboratory a scene of crime room has been established. We are also able to use the surrounding woodland for externally set crime scenes. You will have access to an excellent learning resource centre, comprehensive IT facilities and a dedicated base room.
The forensic science foundation degree is administered by the School of Forensic and Investigative Sciences, within the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Central Lancashire. Forensic science is a multi- disciplinary course in nature with most practitioners choosing to specialise in later stages of their career.
Students can study a range of areas from evidence collection through to analysis of the samples. Expertise within the course is focused in areas of:
- analytical and forensic science
- chemistry
- biology
- forensic anthropology
- policing
Come along to our Open Event on Tuesday 24th June at Carlett Park Campus, A41 Eastham, Birkenhead, 11:00am – 3:00pm to see what exciting courses the College has to offer. Lots of fun activities taking place – BBQ, Food from Around the World, competitions, and lots more.
