Exciting new twelve week full time course for 16-18 year olds at Carlett Park after Easter! Learn to solve problems using analytical and forensic skills – a different approach to learning practical laboratory techniques! This course is an ideal preparation for the BTEC National Award in Forensic Science and BTEC First Diploma in Applied Science which are now recruiting the 2009 intake. The course will give you confidence in planning and carrying out the analysis of forensic, environmental, pharmaceutical and industrial samples using a range of techniques, including instrumental analysis. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a team and to develop literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.
The course will run 9.30-4.00pm Mondays and Tuesdays in the laboratories at Carlett Park with a four hour library study period, negotiated with the course tutor at either Carlett Park or Twelve Quays on Wednesdays.
Successful participants will achieve a level 2 key skill in problem-solving. Those subsequently enrolling on an appropriate BTEC National Applied Science course may also be credited with the BTEC National Unit, Practical Chemical Analysis.
Since this course is full time, 16-18 year old students who are eligible, may receive EMA and a subsidised bus pass.
Application forms are available from Learner Services on any of the College’s Main Campuses – Carlett Park, Conway Park, Twelve Quays and from the Wirral Met College website. Alternatively, phone us on 0151 551 7777.
