As a general FE College, most of our course places are funded by Government subsidy. In the case of 16-18 learners, there is a Government ‘Guarantee’ to ensure that all people in this age group have the opportunity to continue their education and training and we work closely with Connexions in this regard. If you are aged 16-18 (at 31st Aug 2010) please contact us to explore your options.
For adult learners (aged 19 plus) the College receives funding from the Skills Funding Agency or in the case of HE learners, the Higher Education Funding Agency, to provide a limited number of places to continue with further or higher education. At Wirral Metropolitan College we have a course admissions process that considers applicants through a process of assessment, interview and any specific requirements identified to study the particular qualification.
If you have been offered a place, please ensure that you enrol as requested, otherwise your place will be released to suitable applicants who are waiting. If you do not yet have an offer, and have applied for a place, we will keep you informed of progress and should a place become available on a programme we will contact you for assessment / interview.
Adults looking to get back into work, or deal with redundancy:
If you are an unemployed adult, or you are under threat of redundancy, we have a brand new part time programme designed to help you get back on track – for more information, drop into Wirral Met College’s Learning Shop next to Marks and Spencer in the Pyramids Shopping Centre, Birkenhead or contact your local JobCentrePlus for further details.
