Course Details

During the course you will spend your evening in the salon working on one another and models.

Assessments continue throughout the course both in practical and theory sessions and you will be required to complete a number of case studies.

During your course there will be opportunities for attending National shows and exhibitions.

You will need to provide your own equipment, overalls and flat shoes. Approximate cost £30.

Entry Guidelines

Specific requirements - Students need to have a genuine interest in massage.

Communication skills - An ability to communicate one to one e.g. tutor or client and in a group as part of group discussions.

Literacy - Reading - Much of the course material is presented in work books. Students need an ability to read and understand these books. Technical language will be taught on programme. Writing - Students need to produce written assignments and sit written exams. If you need help with either of these it can be provided.

Numeracy - Whilst high levels of numeracy are not required, students may need to work with treatment matericals, mix oils and may handle money.

Manual dexterity and physical stamina - Students need the skills for fine work e.g. small, precise movements within the treatment and it may be necessary to stand for long periods e.g. giving a treatment.

Additional Information

An information evening will be held in June when you will have an opportunity to discuss the course and your individual needs.

Students will be expected to work towards a VTCT Health & Safety Diploma if they have not already achieved this qualification. This will have an additional cost of approximately £15.

Opportunities

This qualification will be an extremely useful addition to the practising therapist, especially those who offer Aromatherapy and/or Reflexology. It is also useful and desirable for a great many hairdressers.
