There are lots of opportunities to get support in employment, education and training.

Jeans for Genes

Jean for Genes help children and families affected by genetic disorders by funding support services and research into the causes and cures of these conditions.
As usual Wirral Metropolitan College Childhood Studies students’ at Twelve Quays Campus will be collecting on Wednesday 30th September, so please dig deep.
A pound donation for wearing Jeans on the Friday or the Wednesday will be appreciated. Also for sale is Fi-Fi and the flower tot glow in the dark badges £1 each – you can get yours from Wendy Thompson in room 208, 12 Quays. Students will also be selling them on the 30th September.
Kitchen Essential

Nigel Crane, Managing Director of Essential Cuisine and his development Chef, Paul Devaney; Chef/Patron of the Burlton Inn, Shrewsbury, recently visited the training kitchen at the College’s Conway Park Campus to produce fantastic dishes and take Marketing and publicity shots of them for their portfolio.
Nigel and Paul worked for two days to produce stunning dishes which were photographed by Andrew Smith from S and G Photography.
The shots will appear in specialist catering and restaurant magazines in the near future.

Forensic Science Foundation Degree
August 27th, 2009With an A level or equivalent, in Chemistry or Biology, you could start a two year Foundation Degree in Forensic Science.
This fascinating, practical and academically challenging course would need only one further year at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) to top it up to a full Honours Degree!
Try Sci Trail

If you’re not sure what course to why not get some hands on experience to help you make your decision.
Come and try our “Try Sci Trail” at 12 Quays on Tues 1st and Wed 2nd September from 10 – 12 and 1-3.
No appointment necessary just call in.
The trail is for learners who might be considering a science course or just want to know more about what’s on offer.
You can try out 4 or 5 short fun science investigations using everyday items e.g. lipstick, cabbages, diet coke, supermarket carrier bags and maybe even some mystery remains dredged from the dock at 12 Quays – the menu of activities changes daily.
The trail takes about half an hour to complete and if you complete the trail successfully you will be eligible for a prize draw.
As well as having some fun, you will also have the opportunity to get some individual advice from tutors about studying for a science qualification at 12 Quays.
