Since its opening in 1995, The Birches on the Boulevard Restaurant has provided first class service to its customers. The Birches was host to none other than her Majesty The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh during a visit to the region in 1996. Our Catering students had the honour of preparing lunch for the Queen and her party.

Since that special event the Birches has been host to many glittering occasions. Her Excellency Madame Fu Ying, The Chinese Ambassador to the United Kingdom recently enjoyed afternoon tea at The Birches Restaurant, with local MPs, VIPs and invited guests. The Catering and Hospitality students were able to showcase their skills and provide a menu that would be difficult to better in a high class London restaurant. Ben Chapman MP, often uses The Birches Restaurant to entertain high profile guests. Choosing the College to host important visitors to the region is an honour for the students as it gives them to opportunity to practice their skills at the highest level.

The Birches Restaurant offers divinely tasty, beautifully presented cuisine, with a varied and cosmopolitan menu. Theme nights, organised by the students, are fun occasions that celebrate cuisine from all over the world. Whether it be light lunch, a romantic dinner or sumptuous afternoon tea the students do their best to please in every way. The Restaurant is able to cater for vegetarians, and any client with specific dietary requirements. An adaptable menu is just one of the many charming features of the restaurant.

The Birches on the Boulevard Restaurant has produced many successful chefs and catering professionals who are working locally, nationally and internationally. We are very proud of the service that our students provide to the industry and are pleased to announce that the restaurant has been entered for College Restaurant of the Year 2008.
