This course is suitable for both beginners and intermediate students who have little or no experience of ceramics. The sessions will have formal content and instruction. However, if you already have expertise in the ceramic processes you can use the session to develop your ceramics/throwing skills in relation to your own ideas.
The sessions will explore the general techniques of ceramics, with the course aiming to introduce you to a variety of techniques in ceramics. After undertaking the course you will have a portfolio of ceramics that demonstrate you have achieved the following:
An understanding of hand building and throwing processes
An increased critical understanding in contemporary ceramics
An understanding in Glaze processes
An understanding of safe working practices in a ceramic studio
There are no formal entry criteria.
You should have a general interest in ceramics and have the ability to develop ideas for projects.
Good eye/hand co-ordination and communication and numeracy skills would be useful.

You will produce several sculptures covering all aspects of hand building techniques which allows the learner to progress with confidence.
