This course is suitable for both beginners and advanced students who have experience of drawing from the figure. The sessions will have formal content and instruction. However, if you already have expertise in life drawing you can use the session to develop your drawings in relation to your own ideas.
The sessions will explore the general formal concepts of drawing. The short course is aimed to introduce students to a variety of approaches to drawing. After undertaking the course students should have a portfolio of Life Drawings that demonstrate that they have achieved the following:
- an understanding of structure and scale in drawing
- an understanding of space and form in drawing
- an increased critical understanding of drawing
There are no formal entry criteria. You should have some experience in drawing and a general interest in life drawing. Good eye/hand co-ordination, communication and numeracy skills would be useful.
Satisfactory interview, assessment and reference.

Office use only. Non Standard 12.The materials you will require for this course need not be expensive and most will be provided by the college. Any additional materials will be suggested prior to the commencement of the next class by the tutor. Whilst most drawing materials and processes are perfectly safe to use, relevant Health & Safety procedures must be observed, such as in the application of fixative, or the use of potentially toxic materials such as graphite powder. If you have any doubts about any particular material or process, please consult the class tutor.
