This course is a preparation for learning in September, introducing you to some concepts in Computing, as well as completing work which will prepare you for future learning.

Course Details

You will complete a unit on Developing a Personal Progression Plan, which will help you plan your next steps in college, into a job or onto an apprenticeship. You will also do some work with digital information and websites, to prepare you for your next steps.

Entry Guidelines

Relevant Entry Level qualification or 3GCSEs at Grade 2/E or above.

Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

Assessment Method

You will complete tasks for each unit to meet the assessment criteria. You will be support to do this in your lessons.

Are you aged 16-18?

Study Programmes are full-time courses for 16-18 year olds which include:

  • A qualification such as BTEC Extended Diploma
  • Meaningful work experience or preparation for work
  • English and maths, if you don't already have GCSE grade A*-C in English and maths (grade 4 and above)
  • Non-study activities such as tutorials, voluntary work, fund-raising/charity work, sport or trips.
Where can I progress to?

Level 1 in Computing or Level 2 in Computing, depending on other prior qualifications and progress on the course.

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
