This is a level 1 programme that will prepare you for re-engagement into education. It will develop basic practical skills in preparation for progression onto a level 2 course, recognised within the industry.
You will participate in practical activities that develop specialist techniques specific to carpentry and joinery. This will be underpinned with some basic theory that will outline the application of safe practices within the construction industry whilst developing an understanding of the materials and equipment used in carpentry and joinery and across other trades. There may be opportunities to engage in work experience offering an insight into the construction industry and across other trades and their contribution when working on a construction project.
No previous experience in Carpentry and joinery is needed
Applicants will need to demonstrate basic English and maths skills at Entry level or above
IT skills would be beneficial
Satisfactory interview and assessment (including manual dexterity)

Observation of practical tasks and basic written knowledge tests.
PPE must be worn at all times in college and all students must arrive at sessions on time, prepared and ready to learn with pens, paper etc.
