This is a level 2 diploma covering a wide range of painting and decorating practical techniques and theoretical principles and knowledge. The course is designed to develop skills and knowledge that will support individuals to set up a freelance painting and decorating business.
As part of this course you will gain the Award in Skills for Further Learning and Employment (RQF).
The course is made up of eight units, six have both practical and theory elements and two are theory only. All units require an end of unit test to be completed.
Students will be expected to complete work at home.
This course will provide a foundation for those wishing to be employed within the decorating industry.
This course includes an additional qualification that will further support skills for self employment/employment.
The units covered are;
- Introduction to Health and Safety in Construction
- Principles of Construction, information and communication
- Scaffolding
- Preparation of surfaces
- Paint application
- Paperhanging
- Specialist decorative finishes
- Colour
No formal qualifications are required.
No previous experience in painting and decorating is needed
Applicants will need to demonstrate basic English and maths skills at Entry level or above
IT skills would be beneficial
Satisfactory interview and assessment (including manual dexterity)
Suitable decorators bib and brace overalls (to be discussed at interview).
Steel toe cap shoes or trainers.
Tutor observation
