If you want to develop engineering skills for industrial or non-industrial fields such as manufacturing or maintenance engineering, then this is the course for you. You will be introduced to a range of skills to help get you started in the industry.
This course will enable you to study a wide range of skills, all of which will help you on your chosen career pathway, moving into employment or further training.
You will get the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised vocational qualification linked to your chosen career. Also, this course will help you to develop the personal and social skills which employers look for.
You will be given support and guidance throughout your learning journey and your progress will be reviewed with you regularly.
Units you will study are:
- Working in engineering
- Principles of engineering technology
- Principles of fabrication and welding technology
- Welding by Manual Metal Arc process
- Welding by MIG process
- Welding by TIG process
Protective fireproof overalls, welding mask, welding gauntlets and steel toe capped footwear. Lever arch file pens, pencils and paper etc.
Students are assessed through completion of online assessments, portfolio of evidence and practical assessments.
The course has a large element of workshop practical activities.
