The course leads to an Ascentis Level 2 Certificate in Preparing for the Community Interpreting Role.

Course Details
The course will give you an introduction to interpreting skills including techniques and code of practice. You will also focus on specific vocabulary fields relating to interpreting and you will undertake interpreting role plays on the course.

Entry Guidelines
You must be 19 or over on or before 31st August to study on this course.
The course is open to applicants with very good knowledge of two languages e.g. ESOL level 2, C1 English advanced level or equivalent
Must have strong IT skills and must have used Microsoft Teams as assignments are set through Microsoft Teams. Limited training can be given in the use of Teams for the course.Satisfactory interview, assessment and/or satisfactory reference.

Students can progress on to Ascentis Level 3 Certificate in Community Interpreting.

This course takes place across two evening classes per week, including blended learning (a face-to-face class inside a classroom, and one online class.)

Maha joined Wirral Met as an ESOL learner and has progressed steadily through her studies, completing Level 1 ESOL and Functional Skills English and Maths, and is now studying Level 2 Interpreting.
Maha’s dedication to learning and humanitarian work was recognised when she was awarded Exceptional Contribution to Humanitarian Causes by the King and Queen of England in November 2023.
