This course is designed for those wishing to top up a 90 Credit Diploma to an Extended Diploma in Applied Science. Students undertaking this course may have studied at Wirral Met College or another institution.
The course will build on units previously studied at 90 Credit Diploma or Diploma Level. Units studied will cover chemistry, physics and biology topics required to gain entry into the College's own HE programmes and to a variety of other university HE programmes.
All students will undertake further study in English and mathematics and develop employability skills. Scientific work experience or work simulation will also be arranged.
BTEC 90 Credit Diploma in Applied Science with Grade C/4 or above in English and maths or 4 GCSEs at Grade A*-C/Grade 4 or above (including two sciences, maths and English).
Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.To learn effectively on your course you will need to use certain items of equipment and undertake particular activities as part of your studies. Wirral Met College offers a Foundation Degree in Chemistry as well as HNC & HND Applied Chemistry/Applied Biology. Students may also progress to a variety of degree courses at university or to a laboratory job or apprenticeship.

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.

If you are aged 19+ and living in the Liverpool City Region (inc Wirral), many courses will be free. If you are aged 19+ and live outside the Liverpool City Region, this course may be free. Terms & conditions apply.
