This course starts in September and will form the first term of our BSL Level 2 course. It will provide the skills to communicate on common topics using BSL.
If you successfully complete the assessment in December and are confident to carry on to the full Signature Level 2 Certificate you can continue to the next term.
There are 3 formal assessments to complete for the Signature certificate which will involve you being filmed while signing or responding to a DVD.
- Developing signing skills to communicate with Deaf people using British Sign Language.
- Enable learners to participate in longer and more varied BSL conversations.
- Learners will have enough understanding of BSL grammar/structure and cope with basic real-life conversations in BSL.
- Level 2 includes learning regional variations.
- Learners will develop a more fluent flow to their signing ability.
- Learners will develop their productive and receptive skills in BSL.
Communication skills - You will need to be able to follow instructions, work as part of a group or pair and demonstrate the manual dexterity to copy signs effectively.
Successful completion of a BSL L1 course (70%) or equivalent.GCSE English Language at Grade 3/D or equivalent
GCSE Maths at Grade 3/D or equivalent
Students would normally hold one of the following: Level 1 Certificate in BSL, Level 1 Certificate in Deaf Community & Culture, Level 1 Certificate in Communication Tactics, Level 1 Certificate in Deaf Awareness.
Satisfactory interview and assessment.
