This is a Level 2 course particularly designed to prepare you for study on a Level 3 Access to HE Diploma in the following:
- Access to Humanities and Social Studies
- Access to Psychology
- Access to Sociology, Criminology and Social Work
- Access to Film, Culture and Society
This course is part of an integrated programme designed to equip you with the skills and qualification needed for level 3 study. You will also gain background knowledge and understanding of a range of subjects such as Sociology, Criminology, Psychology, English and History.
A relevant level 1 qualification.
Functional Skills Level 1 (or above) or Grade 3/D in English and maths.
Applicants must be at least 19 years old when they commence study.
In some cases, applicants may be considered on their individual skills and experience.

You will be assessed by a variety of methods including:
- Essays
- Reports
- Posters
- Presentations
- Timed assessments
- Research Projects
You must have an interest in Humanities subjects. You should be considering taking an Access to HE course when you have successfully completed this course. During the year if you are successful at interview, you may be able to study for a GCSE alongside your programme. In order to progress to Access to HE you will need to have a grade 4/C in English or maths. If you do not have a grade 4/C or above in either of these subjects you will need to study maths or English alongside this course to gain both qualifications. You will only be allowed to study one GCSE (maths or English) during the year.
