If you are 19 or over and returning to study after a break in your education, this course is designed to increase your knowledge and confidence to pursue a career in Health or Social Care. It can offer a progression route to an Access to Higher Education course or other Level 3 courses..

There are three core areas of study which are covered:
This is a level 2 qualification that will prepare you for further study such as Access to Higher Education.
Relevant level 1 qualification or minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade 3/D or above.
Satisfactory interview and assessment.
Applicants must be at least 19 years old when they commence study and must have an interest in Health.
You should be considering taking an Access to HE course in the future and will be expected to study English and/or Maths, alongside Pre Access, if you have not already achieved a Grade 4/C or above.

You must have an interest in Health and Social Care. You should be considering taking an Access to HE course when you have successfully completed this course.
During the year if you are successful at interview, you may be able to study for a GCSE alongside your programme.
In order to progress to Access to HE you will need to have a grade 4/C in English or maths. If you do not have a grade 4/C or above in either of these subjects you will need to study maths or English alongside this course to gain both qualifications. You will only be allowed to study one GCSE (maths or English) during the year.
Progression to Access to Higher Education (Health Professionals) and (Social Work) course, which is a level 3 course providing a recognised qualification for entry to University degree courses. Enhanced job opportunities because of the enhancement of your GCSE-equivalent profile. .
