Developed in collaboration with industry leaders, the course blends hands-on learning, academic study, and a minimum 45-day industry placement, ensuring you gain both practical expertise and real-world experience.
Ideal for those aspiring to work in engineering and manufacturing, this qualification delivers in-depth industry knowledge alongside the essential occupational skills required to enter the workforce with confidence.
The qualification will help you gain an understanding of the engineering industry and the sector, and you will cover topics such as:
- Essential mathematics for engineering and manufacturing
- Materials and their properties
- Business, commercial and financial awareness
You will also get the opportunity to specialise in:
Fabrication and welding technologies
- An industry-based work placement will run alongside your course further reinforcing your newly learned skills and offering a true insight into the engineering industry.
This is a Study Programme for students aged 16-18 years.
- T-Levels are equivalent to three A Levels. They are developed in collaboration with employers to ensure the content meets the need of specific industries and include a significant industry placement.
- You will need 5 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above. Two of the 5 GCSE's to be maths and English Language at Grade 4 or above.
- If you have achieved at least a merit in a level 2 qualification in the subject you want to study and have a maths and English Language GCSE at Grade 4 or above (or functional skill level 2) you can study at this level.
Applicants should be ready to complete a work placement.

- Flame retardant overalls
- Steel toe capped boots
- Workshop gloves
- Welding mask
- Welding gauntlets

A key component of this course is an extended work experience placement, totalling at least 45 days over the two year programme. Wirral Met have excellent links with employers within the Engineering sector and will work with you to find the right placement for you.

Additionally, it provides a strong foundation for further study, offering pathways to higher education courses and advanced training opportunities.
