This programme of study is for young people aged 16-18 and, where appropriate, for those who are aged 19 or over.

This course aim is to provide a bespoke learning experience to support you to take your next steps with confidence, whether that's moving into further education, training, or employment.

It's ideal if you want to build your confidence, independence, and life skills, as well as gain the tools you need to succeed in the workplace and everyday life.

You'll learn in a supportive environment where staff understand that everyone's journey is different. The course focuses on helping you feel more positive about your future and more prepared for what comes next.

  • Course Details

    The qualification is intended to be accessible to a wide range of learners of all abilities. Learners can develop a more 'hands on' approach to their learning and gain practical skills, knowledge and understanding in their chosen vocational area. The programme aims to:

    • Develop communication and teamwork skills
    • Enable students to gain knowledge and experience in vocational areas
    • Develop essential career, social and personal development skills
    • Raise awareness of progression opportunities
    • Enable students to develop their English and maths

    The qualification offered is NCFE Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills. The Certificate is achieved by completing a range of units for example;

    • Understanding mind set/motivation
    • Dealing with 1st days at Work
    • Setting you own targets and managing your time
    • Developing Assertiveness
    • Group and Teamwork
    • Interview skills and writing a CV
    • Taking part in a project

    It is expected that you will work towards GCSE in both English and maths during the course.

  • Entry Guidelines

    This course is prioritised for students who are 16-18, but there may be opportunity for students who are aged 19 or over to access this course where appropriate.

    No formal qualifications are needed.

    There will be an interview to assess motivation, communication skills, career planning and the commitment.

    If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course.
