Attendance at College is extremely important and missing lessons can lead to serious problems falling behind with coursework.  Most full-time study programmes require attendance in College for up to three days per week so there should be enough non-lesson time in any week for driving lessons, medical or dental appointments to be arranged.  Students should not take holidays during term-time.

It is the student’s responsibility to ensure College staff know if they have any planned absence.  If a student is ill, they should telephone the College on 0151 551 7777 before 9.30am to let us know of the absence and its likely duration.

If your son/daughter is unexpectedly absent from a lesson, you may receive a phone call from College that day, enquiring as to the reason.

Many students have part-time jobs which can help them financially and give them useful experience, however, College work must come first.  If a student takes on too much and works too many hours, their coursework is likely to suffer.

There is a range of support for students aged 16-18, including free transport to College, free College meals, bursaries and the Learner Support Fund.  For details, click Financial Support.

Yes, we will contact you if we have any concerns about your son/daughter’s progress and/or attendance.  Don’t forget, if you feel there is a problem, we would encourage you to get in touch with your son/daughter’s Personal Tutor or the appropriate Curriculum Manager.
