After studying at Weatherhead High School some years ago, Sally Weaver is currently in her third year of studying a BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree at Wirral Met College as a mature student.
Validated by the University of Chester, Sally says that the BA (Hons) Fine Art Degree is “a lifelong ambition and a life-changing experience” that will launch her into a new and exciting period of her life. “The course has been excellent. Staff and facilities are second to none and the course is managed very well”.
Whilst studying with Wirral Met College, Sally was selected along with six other students from BYU Utah and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts to be mentored on a trip to Iceland. Sally was given the opportunity to engage with other artists, academics and fellow students to explore a diverse range of practices and ideas.
Following the trip Sally’s artwork will be part of an initial exhibition in Sante Fe Community College Gallery in New Mexico and as part of a larger, ongoing collaboration with the group, there will be further exhibitions of the Icelandic inspired artwork which will be exhibited in the US, Ireland and the UK.
Upon graduation, Sally is contemplating a Master’s Degree whilst working within a culture and arts environment on community, health based support work, in addition to exhibiting work and she aims to gain a residency at an art organisation.
