Wirral Met offers internationally recognised qualifications by the Associate of Accounting Technicians (AAT) at levels two, three and four. The qualifications cover practical, real-world accounting skills that you can put to use from day one. Whether you want to specialise in accountancy or bookkeeping, or gain a base understanding to succeed in other areas of business, these sought-after skills will open doors to a broad range of exciting careers.
You can choose to study full-time or part-time, so those with jobs and/or caring responsibilities can fit study in around their busy lives. Level three and four apprenticeships in accounting are also available, giving you the opportunity to earn while you learn. These apprenticeships are designed for applicants who are developing into roles such as assistant accountant, trainee accounting technician, accounts clerk, finance assistant, purchase ledger clerk, sales ledger clerk.
Student Sophie Keenan studied the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting having progressed from the AAT Foundation Certificate. Sophie developed her work experience by working in a busy Finance department, putting into practice the skills that she learnt in the classroom. Sophie is now progressing on to a level 4 apprenticeship in accounting, having secured an apprenticeship with Wirral Met as a finance assistant.

If you earn less than £17,550 or £9 per hour, you can study towards a level two accountancy qualification for free, either for one day or two evenings per week. With hard work and commitment to your studies, level two students could quickly progress to level three and four qualifications and be fast tracked to becoming a professional accountant at level four within three years.
