At Wirral Met College, we educate and train over 500 people every year who move into health-related roles.

There are 400 students at Wirral Met, who are currently studying health-related qualifications, gaining the skills needed to move into the healthcare industry.

In the last five years, Wirral Met has trained over 2700 individuals on health and social care related qualifications.

The NHS is staffed by brilliant people and throughout the years, colleges have trained many of those. Today, we celebrate the NHS marking 75 years of service and the important role colleges play in securing its workforce.

Colleges support the NHS greatly and offer an important route into NHS careers for thousands of students taking a variety of technical and vocational qualifications. Colleges educate and train 1.6 million people every year, including many who move into health-related roles within the NHS.

We have also developed proud partnerships with varied NHS employers and organisations within the area, collaborating to produce opportunities across Merseyside.

We have been working closely for over 10 years for Wirral University Teaching Hospital and have recently collaborated on a new initiative, the ‘100 Apprenticeship Pledges in 100 Days’ campaign.

The scheme offers small to medium sized employers across Wirral and the wider Liverpool City Region financial support for the recruitment of apprentices, as well as providing training and development for existing employees to support their progression within the organisation.

The campaign will help individuals across their local community access career progression, whilst supporting employers with employee development and recruitment to facilitate company growth.
