Number Confidence Week 2023 is here, and it's the perfect time to boost your confidence in mathematics. At Wirral Met College, we are committed to supporting adults on their journey to greater number confidence and improved mathematical skills.
We offer GCSE and Functional Skills Maths courses with flexible starting dates throughout the year. Courses are completely free for adults aged 19+ who have not achieved grade C or equivalent in maths.
Gaining a maths qualification in later life offers numerous benefits. Firstly, it can expand your career horizons. In today's job market, many industries require a level of mathematical proficiency, and obtaining a maths qualification can open doors to a wider range of job opportunities and career advancement. Additionally, enhancing your math skills sharpens your ability to solve real-life problems, making daily tasks more manageable and efficient. Financial literacy is another crucial advantage of improving your math skills. A solid grasp of mathematics empowers you to make more informed financial decisions, manage budgets, and plan for the future with greater confidence. On a personal level, developing your mathematical abilities can boost self-esteem and contribute to personal growth and a stronger sense of self.
Wirral Met student Angela Murray who achieved her Maths GCSE this year said “I really struggled with maths and English at school and came away without my qualifications. The tutors at Wirral Met are so supportive and after completing a teaching assistant qualification at the college, they gave me the confidence to study for my maths GCSE! With these qualifications I am now hoping to study an Early Years degree at Wirral Met next year. I feel like I have done my life in reverse but it just shows that it is never too late to go back to education and achieve things you didn’t think you could!”
