Former BA (Hons) Fine Art student, Stephen Sheehan completed the art course at Wirral Met in 2014 and then progressed on to do MA Fine Art at Liverpool John Moore’s University. He is now self-employed, showing and performing his work across the country and abroad.

Stephen was recently selected by the team at The Liverpool Biennial to be an associate artist for their programme. The Liverpool Biennial is a free festival of contemporary art from around the world, taking place across Liverpool from 9th July until 16th October. He was selected as one of the ten artists from the North of England to take part in the programme which runs for two years. This programme aims to support artists, like Stephen, to develop their careers internationally.
Stephen’s ultimate plan is to make it on the international stage and believes he can do this with the opportunities he has been given. He already has plans to travel to New York and Finland this year for his art.

He went on to say, “The art tutors at Wirral Met opened my mind and allowed me to develop, not just with my work, but as a person too. Though you cannot just rely on their efforts to make things happen, they give you brilliant guidance and present opportunities to you, but ultimately, you have to work hard, take risks, and turn that solid advice into something real.”
