It’s time to enjoy the festive season with friends and family as we share the accomplishments of our students and reflect on the past year. Wirral Met have so many great achievements to share that we couldn’t possibly include them all, so here are the top few.

In March, our level three BTEC Travel and Tourism and BTEC Aviation Operations students travelled to Malta for three weeks’ work experience. The students worked in a wide range of tourist attractions including five star boutique hotels and resort hotels. They also got the opportunity to explore the island on their days off and embrace the culture of Malta, all thanks to Erasmus funding.

Wirral Met’s football development team competed against St John Plessington High School at Prenton Park for the Cup Final title in May. It was an exciting game with the score 2-2 at full time with Wirral Met going on to win the cup 3-1 on penalties.

Students from BA (Hons) Fine Art, Illustration and Animation and HND Photography students exhibited their work at the Williamson Art Gallery and Museum. This year’s degree show featured paintings, sculptures, installation and animation.

In June, students from the Fashion and Photographic make-up course took part in their annual competition. Winner Eva Parr created her look based on Wirral’s Mermaid Trail which was part of the brief of ‘Visitor Economy of the North’.

Also in June, Wirral Met College welcomed Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram and Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for Economy and Infrastructure Ken Skates who visited our outstanding facilities at our Wirral Waters and Twelve Quays Campuses.

One of the key highlights of the year was when Wirral Met gained recognition as a good provider of education and training in the recent Ofsted inspection.
