The Art School and Wirral Met College are collaborating to provide four young people with a unique opportunity to start an exciting career in the fine-dining industry.
Launching this May, the 10 week Pre-Apprenticeship Programme is designed to help young people aged 16 to 24 gain the critical skills needed to progress onto an apprenticeship or full-time employment.
The lucky trainees selected will gain valuable industry experience at The Art School’s prestigious restaurant located in Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter. There are four positions available, from pastry and hot kitchen chefs, to front of house.
Throughout the programme, trainees will also develop their English, maths and digital skills, learning how to prepare for the world of work by improving communication and interview skills with Wirral Met College’s friendly specialists. The College will also provide trainees with support towards travel and uniform costs.
Paul Askew, Chef Patron at The Art School said “We are passionate about developing and encouraging the next generation, keeping traditions and techniques alive, delivering an outstanding customer experience and championing hospitality as a highly rewarding and enjoyable career of choice. Traineeships and Apprenticeships are an excellent opportunity for anyone wanting a career in hospitality and be inspired and taught by industry professionals”.
Upon completion of the programme, Trainees will have the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship in their chosen discipline, to receive further industry training from The Art School and the College.
Applications are now open and due to the limited number of positions available, those interested are encouraged to apply online to course code F017M026 as soon as possible before the deadline on Wednesday 28th April.
There will be a virtual information session on Thursday the 29th of April at 1.30pm for applicants to attend and learn more about the positions available.
