Wirral Met College has been working in partnership with Swissport International over the past twelve months to provide Travel and Tourism students with unique opportunities to gain high quality work experience and specialist industry sector expertise.

Swissport International is the world’s leading global airport and aviation service provider, serving airlines and airports spanning from America to Africa and Northern Europe, and Wirral Met is the only college in the North West of England to be granted with the prestigious Swissport Academy status.

Wirral Met is dedicated to providing students with meaningful and valuable work experience to ensure that they are ‘work ready’ and prepared to apply for jobs in industry. Over the past twelve months, students studying on the level two study programme have been taking part in in behind-the-scenes tours at UK and overseas airports, where they gained practical insights into the multitude of careers within the aviation industry. They have also been involved in discussions with guest speakers and had access to a wide range of expertise to equip them to progress into jobs in travel and tourism. One of the key highlights of the partnership is that many Wirral Met students were provided with a guaranteed job interview with Swissport once they successfully completed their study programme.

With the new Swissport Academy, Travel and Tourism students have been able to take advantage of excellent work experience opportunities, working alongside professionals across this exciting and dynamic industry and students joining the college in September 2017 will also benefit from these excellent opportunities.
