Wirral Met College are excited to announce that for the academic year 2024/25, North West Cancer Research has been chosen by our staff and students as our Charity of the Year.
North West Cancer Research is the only independent charity dedicated to tackling cancer across the North West and North Wales. The charity has a simple goal; to put the region’s cancer needs first.
From its origins in 1948, North West Cancer Research have been funding pioneering research, tailored to meet the region’s needs. Since 2000, they have funded more than £50 million of world-class research, addressing cancer inequalities and championing our local research community to pave the way for a cancer-free future.
Our annual charity selection process involves the input and votes of both staff and students, making it a truly collective decision.
Gill Banks, Principal and CEO of Wirral Met College said “I am delighted that North West Cancer Research has been chosen as our college charity for this year. This charity does outstanding work in the local area, funding pioneering research, and paving the way for a cancer-free future. Throughout this academic year, our students will hold a series of fundraising initiatives to support North West Cancer Research and their work.”
We believe that every member of our college community can make a difference, no matter how big or small their contribution. Together, we can help support North West Cancer Research as a community, enabling them to continue in their endless pursuit of innovation and dedication to tackling cancer across the North West.
