Wirral Met College has officially opened a new Oasis Garden at our Conway Park Campus, a peaceful, inclusive space designed to support student wellbeing and outdoor learning.
Previously a disused area at the side of the campus, the space has been completely transformed thanks to the creativity and input of our Neurodiversity Council. The garden now features multiple seating areas, flower beds, vegetable patches, sensory zones, and a calming water feature.
Designed with accessibility and inclusivity, the Oasis Garden offers a calm environment for all students to enjoy, with particular benefit to those on our Prep for Life programme. It will be used regularly as part of their learning and wellbeing activities, providing a peaceful setting for learning and social interaction.
The garden includes a variety of sensory elements such as a swinging chair, musical instruments, and vibrant flower beds creating a sensory environment.
“It will benefit everyone, to have the space when they’re stressed instead of a busy classroom,” said Jodie, a member of the Neurodiversity Council who helped shape the garden. “I feel really proud that my ideas have been included in the garden.”
This project is a vital step in ensuring we continue to offer the best possible learning environment for all students.
