Students from Wirral Met College’s Hair and Beauty department have been showcasing their skills at Stick ‘n’ Step’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ themed fundraising event.
The event, held at Thornton Hall, saw eight amateur volunteers partner up with professional dancers, taking to the dancefloor to put on a fantastic show, all in aid of Stick ‘n’ Step, a charity which enables and supports children with cerebral palsy and their families.
Our learners played a pivotal part in proceedings, providing hair and makeup to each dancer, ensuring that they look their best for their performances.
Joanne Fowler, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Stick ‘n’ Step, said “On behalf of everyone at Stick 'n' Step, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you all for giving up your time and your incredible support at our ‘Strictly Stick 'n' Step’ event on Saturday, 16th November.”
“Your talent and professionalism in doing the hair and makeup for our contestants and dancers added a real touch of glamour to the evening. You helped everyone feel confident and fabulous as they stepped onto the dance floor. The attention to detail and creativity you brought to the event was truly impressive, and we’ve had so many compliments about how stunning everyone looked! “
“This event is a key part of our fundraising efforts to support children and young people with cerebral palsy, and your contribution played an important role in its success. You should be very proud of the part you played in making the evening so memorable.”
In total, the event raised over £45,000.
Throughout their studies, hair, beauty and makeup students take part in a variety of activities and events to help develop their practical skills, knowledge and experience. Earlier this year, our learners took part in Liverpool Fashion Week, preparing each model with skincare, hair and makeup services ahead of their catwalk display.
