This programme, delivered in association with the University of Liverpool, is aimed at people who are not applying directly from school or college, who have non-standard qualifications or who wish work or life experience to be taken into account as part of their application. Evidence of literacy and numeracy skills is sought, although this can be provided from a number of sources, such as work experience rather than (or in addition to) traditional academic qualifications such as A levels.
The 2 + 2 BSc (Hons) Degree in Psychology involves two years full time attendance at Wirral Met College followed by a final two years at the University of Liverpool. You will be introduced to academic psychology through a multi-disciplinary and integrated approach which will prepare you to progress into the second year of the BSc (Hons) Psychology course at the University of Liverpool. Timetables of study and assessment calendars will be provided in programme handbooks on enrolment.
Year 0 you will complete the following units:

- Introduction to Psychological Debates
- Introduction to Biological Psychology 1
- Introduction to Research Methods and Statistics 2
- Introduction to Developmental and Clinical Psychology

- Introduction to Social and Investigative Psychology
Year 1 you will complete the following units:
- Developmental Psychology
- Brain and Cognition
- Research Methods and Statistics 1
- Social Psychology and Individual Differences
- Biological Psychology
- Research Methods and Statistics 2
Years 2 and 3 - Modules are completed in the School of Psychology at the University of Liverpool

As this programme has a foundation year, formal qualifications (e.g. A levels, Access courses etc.) are not required. To be accepted onto this course applicants will:
- Be able to demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills at Level 2
- Be motivated to complete a 4 year programme in Psychology
- Be a non traditional student. This term refers to those who would not have the academic background to apply directly for a 3 year degree in Psychology
Careful attention is paid to the personal statement section on the UCAS application form along with applicant's life and work experience.
In particular the personal statement should demonstrate the following:
- An awareness of the commitment required to complete a 4 year degree
- A reference from an employer (paid or unpaid), or an academic reference to support your application. (If you don't have a recent reference, please contact our student advisors)
- Evidence that you have done some research into the content of this degree programme
