The T Level Foundation Programme in Health is intended for those who are intending to progress on to a T Level in the coming year but do not yet meet requirements to join. This course will provide a firm foundation for anyone looking to progress and succeed on a T Level in Health. It is designed to develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to support your progression into a successful career in this dynamic sector, including building your maths and English skills so you meet the entry requirements for a T Level in Health.

Wirral Met is pleased to offer this new qualification which builds on our extensive experience of delivering Health courses in collaboration with employers and industry experts. In partnership with a number of NHS Trusts and healthcare providers, our programme ensures you will develop a real insight into the range of roles and services within this field.

Course Details

The T Level Foundation Programme in Health provides you with lots of experience and will equip you with the necessary skills, knowledge and behaviours to progress to a T Level in Health. It consists of a Level 2 Extended Diploma in Health and Social Care alongside a high quality work placement with one of our industry partners, so you have a firm foundation in the following important areas of health:

  • Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
  • Human growth and development
  • Safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Equality, diversity and rights in health and social care
  • Human growth and development
  • Safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Communication in health and social care
  • Working in health and social care

You will also benefit from the development of your core skills in maths and English, alongside career-focussed tasks to prepare you to succeed on a T Level in Health.

Entry Guidelines

This is a Study Programme and applicants must be 16 or 17 years of age when applying (on or before 31st August)*. *This is based on Government Guidelines.

Relevant Level 1 qualification or a minimum of 4 GCSEs including English Language Grade 4/C and 3 GCSEs at Grade 3/D or above (including maths).

Applicants should be ready to complete a work placement

Satisfactory interview, assessment, school report and/or satisfactory reference.

Equipment Required

You will require access to a laptop, which can be provided by college if needed.

Your DBS check will need to meet setting requirements.

Your placement uniform will be provided and you will need to travel to your work placement.

Assessment Method

All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods. This could include direct observation within the workplace, a portfolio of evidence, written assignments or a task set by CACHE.

Additional Information

While completing this qualification, you will have an opportunity to develop the essential skills, knowledge and behaviours employers look for in an employee.

  • workplace behaviour and dress
  • interpersonal skills
  • communicating with professional colleagues
  • supporting other aspiring employees
  • understanding work practices and how different roles and departments function within an organisation

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
