The CACHE Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools Certificate is designed for those working under supervision in face to face roles with children, young people (aged 5-19 years) in an education setting, who would like to gain a teaching assistant qualification.
The qualification provides learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to work with children and young people.
A trainer/assessor will deliver the knowledge sessions and undertake
assessment of your practice in the workplace setting.
DBS checks are
required to undertake a voluntary placement. These may be undertaken by the
setting or Wirral Metropolitan College upon payment of the required
fee.
To gain this qualification students will need to achieve 11 mandatory units.
- Child and Young Peoples Development.
- Safeguarding.
- Communication/Professional Relationships.
- Supporting aspects of behavior.
- Display Work.
Candidates are expected to arrange their own voluntary placements, minimum 12 hours per week.
This course is work-based and will be offered at multiple start dates throughout the academic year.
To study a Level 2 qualification, you will need:
A minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3, including English and Maths (or L1 Functional Skills in English and Maths)
A relevant Level 1 qualification with GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or above (or L1 Functional Skills in English and Maths)
In addition to this, you are required to have 2-3 months, 12 hours per week, experience in a relevant setting, and an agreement from your headteacher, that you can be assessed in your setting by our trainer assessors..

This level 2 teaching assistant qualification leads allows you to progress to our Level 3 course -N060.
Purchase of childcare books is recommended.
Your trainer/assessor will work with you to identify your particular learning and support needs in order to assist you in your studies.
Good organisational and time management skills are essential in order to plan
and achieve this award within the timescale. It is essential you demonstrate
commitment to this course through high motivation, including full attendance and
independent study.
