English courses at this level are FREE.

You will take part in various activities including individual, paired and whole group activities that will help develop your English skills. You will have your own plan of work which you will discuss with your tutor.

We offer Entry Level up to Level 2 which will be decided at initial assessment:

Course Details
Each course aims to help you to gain a good grasp of spelling, punctuation, and grammar skills which will improve your writing; be confident in reading and responding to a range of materials; develop speaking and listening skills and obtain a national qualification.
Entry Guidelines

To join a course you first need to complete an assessment to determine the correct level for you.

You don't need any qualifications but you do need skills equivalent to Entry Level 2 or above to be able to access these courses. Your initial assessment will show what your correct skills level is and you will then be enrolled onto the correct level.

If English is not your first language, you may need an assessment before enrolling on this course. To discuss further, please contact the ESOL department on 0151 551 7144.

You will work towards a City & Guilds Functional Skills qualification or a College Certificate

Arrive on time
Attend each week
Work with others
Complete homework and bring to the next session
Attend the exam

Where can I progress to?

You may be able to progress on to the next level course or a range of other courses that require communication skills.

Returning students would need to be able to demonstrate improvement in their skills in order to progress to the next level.
