This is a Level 2 course particularly designed to prepare you for study on a Level 3 Access to HE Diploma in the following:

  • Access to Psychology and Mental Health
  • Access to Sociology and Criminology
  • Access to Biomedical Science
  • Access to Nursing

This course is part of an integrated programme designed to equip you with the skills and qualification needed for Access to HE Level 3 study.

There are three pathways you can choose from - Humanities, Nursing and Health Professions and Medical Science. You will also gain background knowledge and understanding of a range of subjects in each area as well as developing key academic skills to help you prepare for Access to HE programmes..

You will also have the opportunity to complete English and Maths at Level 2, which will enable you to progress onto Access to HE Level 3 programmes.

Entry Guidelines

Applicants must be at least 19 years old when they commence study.

Applicants may be considered on their individual skills and experience.

You do not need formal qualifications for this course. However, you must be able to read and write clearly, interpret tasks, be willing to work independently, produce answers in a legible and understandable form and organise information clearly and coherently.

Satisfactory interview and demonstrate your interest in this career pathway.

Additional Information
You must have an interest in Humanities, Science, Nursing or Health subjects. You should be considering taking an Access to HE course when you have successfully completed this course. During the year if you are successful at interview, you may be able to study for a GCSE or Functional Skills alongside your programme. In order to progress to Access to HE you will need to have a grade 4/C in GCSE English and maths or alternatively pass Level 2 Functional Skills English and maths. If you do not have a grade 4/C or above or equivalent in either of these subjects you will need to study maths or English alongside this course to gain both qualifications. You will only be allowed to study one GCSE (maths or English) during the year.
