This study programme enables you to develop your skills as a professional make-up artist, working with performers to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to provide hair and make-up services in the media, theatre, performing arts, fashion and photographic industries.
You will be provided with industry specialist opportunities to help with the development of your career.

As a training make-up artist you will develop a variety of techniques in the following units:
- Media
- Special effects and camouflage make-up
- How to apply ready-made small prosthetic pieces and bald caps
- Monitor and maintain health and safety
- Client care and communication
- Style and fit a postiche
- How to apply the complex skill of airbrush make-up
- You will need 4 GCSE's at Grade 4 or above. One of the 4 GCSE's to be Maths or English at Grade 4 (or functional skill level 2) to study at this level.
- If you have a level 2 qualification in the subject you want to study and a maths or English GCSE at Grade 4 (or functional skill level 2) you can study at this level.
- Entry requirements for Level 3 courses in some sectors may be more specific. If you're unsure whether you meet these requirements, don't worry — we can help you find a suitable course that aligns with your skills and experience
You will need a full make up kit including brushes and top up kits. This will available to order at enrolment and you may be eligible for financial support to help with the cost of this.
You'll be tested through written exams and regular assessments during the year.
You may be able to go straight into employment or onto a further Hairdressing and Beauty programme.
