Fancy a career in the media industry? This BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media Skills provides an opportunity to learn about digital media content creation in its widest form, including video and audio production, digital editing for video and audio, Podcasting and Social Media Content. Alongside these practical digital skills, you will also develop your organisational, communication and research skills in areas that specifically interest you and develop an understanding of the media industry and how to access it. You will have access to industry-standard, practical resources and software, with the opportunity to develop specialist skills of your own choosing, to a more advanced level.

As part of your course, you will gain valuable practical experience, guest talks from industry professionals, external visits, opportunities to gain work experience.

The course focuses on a wide range of practical digital creative media skills, including:

  • Video and audio content creation
  • Video and audio editing using the Adobe Creative Suite
  • Video and audio podcast production
  • Online content creation for social media platforms
  • Presenting and pitching ideas
  • Studio green screen production

Entry Guidelines

You will need to have 4 GCSE's at Grade 3 or above. One of the 4 GCSE's to be Maths or English at grade 3 (or Functional Skills Level 1) to study at this level.

If you have a beginner/introductory qualification in the subject, you want to study and maths or English GCSE at Grade 3 (or Functional Skill Level 1) you can study at this level.

Entry requirements for Level 2 courses in some sectors may be more specific. If you're unsure whether you meet these requirements, don't worry — we can help you find a suitable course that aligns with your skills and experience.

Assessment Method

Assessment will take place through a mix of practical and written coursework.

This study programme is free for students, who are aged 16-18 on 31 August, and students aged 19-24 with an Education, Health & Care Plan.
