Vacancy Description:

The Jockey Club are looking to recruit a Level 3 People & Culture Apprentice. This is a great opportunity to support the People Team with administrative tasks, and gain valuable, varied hands-on experience of working within a People Functions Team within the Racing Industry. Duties include: creating contracts and setting up new starters on our People System, and ensuring the timely completion of the onboarding process.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Support with managing our Service Desk inbox, where all people related queries are logged
  • Creating contracts and setting up new starters on our People System, ensuring the timely completion of the onboarding process
  • Supporting with the completion of internal letters such as changes to terms and conditions, promotions and flexible working
  • Benefits Administration – such as administering eye care vouchers
  • Responding to reference requests
  • Probation – keeping the internal tracker up to date, sending probation forms to Managers when appropriate & informing the correct member of the People Team of any issues
  • Celebrating Milestones – identifying when colleagues have hit milestones and sending out relevant congratulations cards and gifts
  • Assisting with the production of monthly reporting from our People System, including data on starters, leavers, and benefits information
  • Processing and upkeep of employee files (such as removing leavers & conducting file audits)

You will also contribute to People & Culture projects and initiatives as appropriate

You will take ownership of the tasks set out by your Line Manager and understand the importance of managing both professional and learning responsibilities.

Training to be provided:

Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship Standard, including:

  • Certificate in Human Resources Practice
  • Knowledge, Skills & Behaviours
  • End-Point Assessment.

Weekly hours:  37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5pm (1-hour lunch break)

Annual wage: £21,000
