This Level 2 Diploma is designed for adults who are interested in pursuing a career in automotive maintenance and repair. It provides the foundational skills and knowledge required to perform vehicle maintenance and repair tasks, setting you on the path to becoming a skilled automotive technician.
Routine light vehicle maintenance, including engine systems.
- Inspecting, repairing and replacing light vehicle: standard and high performance tyres.
- Carrying out light vehicle four wheel alignment.
- Inspecting and replacing light vehicle: exhaust components, suspension dampers & springs, vehicle batteries and braking systems & components.
Learners also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace, agreeing customer vehicle needs and other skills associated with working in a garage.
Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
A keen interest in automotive maintenance and repair.
We require you to have Personal Protective Equipment and a small tool kit.
Students are assessed through practical assessments and on-line multi-choice theory questions.
Information Technology - you will develop computer skills as part of your course.
All students are assessed in basic skills and additional support will be offered to individual students as necessary to improve individual achievement.
